Book this course

The PADI Open Water Diver certification is the most recognized diving credential in the world , and your passport to exploring the underwater world down to 18 meters. With Lau, you learn in a relaxed, supportive environment, in small groups (4 people max), at your own pace. No pressure, no rush: just you, the water, and an instructor who genuinely loves sharing his passion.

The course begins with a theory review (you complete the PADI e-learning before arrival, comfortably from home). Then come the confined water sessions , pool or shallow protected area , where you master the essential skills: clearing your mask, managing your buoyancy, communicating underwater. This is where everything clicks into place, stress-free.

Then come the 4 open water dives. This is where the magic happens. You discover marine life, apply your skills in real conditions, and grow more confident with every descent. By the end of day four, you walk away with your PADI certification , recognized worldwide, valid for life. Whether you dream of diving in the Canaries, the Mediterranean, Asia, or the Caribbean, this card opens every door.

Day-by-day program

Day 1

Theory review & first pool session

You arrive having already completed your PADI e-learning at home, so we hit the ground running. Lau reviews the key concepts with you, answers all your questions, then it's straight into the pool. You learn to assemble your gear, take your first breaths underwater, clear your mask, manage your buoyancy, and communicate with hand signals. By the end of the session, you already feel like a different person in the water.

Day 2

Pool session 2 & first ocean dives

Morning starts with a second confined water session to polish your skills , regulator recovery, air sharing with a buddy, and fine-tuning your buoyancy. Then comes the moment you've been waiting for: your first two open water dives, down to 12 meters. Controlled descent, buddy communication, and your very first glimpse of the reef. This is usually when it clicks , the underwater world is real, and you're part of it.

Day 3

Open water dives 3 & 4 , going deeper

Today you dive to 18 meters. You practise essential safety skills , the controlled emergency swimming ascent, air management, and basic compass navigation , then the rest is pure exploration. You're more relaxed, more aware, more in control. The fish, the colours, the weightlessness: this is the dive where most students say "I'm hooked."

Day 4

Final skills check & certification

A final demonstration of your skills, a relaxed certification dive, and a thorough debrief with Lau. Your PADI Open Water Diver card is issued , recognized worldwide, valid for life. You walk away a certified diver, ready to explore any ocean on the planet. Welcome to the club.

This program is a typical example. The schedule and pace are adapted to each student, weather conditions and the dive site. Lau always adjusts the plan to make sure you get the best possible experience.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know how to swim?

You need to be comfortable in water and able to swim 200 meters (no time limit, any stroke) and float or tread water for 10 minutes. You don't need to be a competitive swimmer , it's really about not panicking in the water.

How long does the course take?

Plan for 3 to 4 days on site. The PADI e-learning (the theory part) is completed before arrival, from home, at your own pace. That's roughly 10 to 15 hours of self-study.

What's included in the price?

All instruction by Lau (certified PADI instructor), complete diving equipment (wetsuit, BCD, regulator, mask, fins, tank), 4 open water dives, confined water sessions, and the PADI certification. The e-learning fee is paid separately directly to PADI.

Can I dive anywhere after certification?

Yes! Your PADI Open Water certification is recognized worldwide and valid for life. You can dive to a maximum depth of 18 meters with a certified buddy, at any dive center on the planet.

What if I'm scared or anxious?

That's completely normal and very common. Lau is used to it and adjusts the pace for everyone. We take all the time needed in the pool, we talk, we keep things light. Many students arrive nervous and leave asking when the next dive is. The important thing is taking that first step , the rest comes naturally.

Prerequisites

No previous diving experience required. Minimum age 10 years (ages 10-14: Junior Open Water Diver). Good general health and comfort in the water. A medical fitness-to-dive certificate may be required depending on the destination. PADI e-learning must be completed before the course begins.
